Headquartered in Kabul with regional bureaus in Kandahar, Jalalabad, Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif, Ghazni, Bamiyan, Khost and Kunduz and a nationwide network of reporters and correspondents, Pajhwok provides an average daily output of three dozen stories in Dari, Pashto and English to Afghan and international media outlets, Afghan government ministries, non-governmental organizations, diplomats, businesses, students, researchers and prominent individuals. Pajhwok also provides photos, audio clips and video footage of news events to international wire agencies, television and radio stations.
Pajhwok began as a small project to help independent journalists report as a team on the 2003 Constitutional Loya Jirga. Since then, Pajhwok has become the main provider of daily news stories, photography, audio and video footage to the country’s print and broadcast media and the most trusted source of news about Afghanistan from an Afghan perspective that is produced in accordance with established journalistic standards. This high quality output, including special reporting projects on elections, security, health, reconstruction, economic development, social issues and government has enabled Afghan media outlets to deliver news that is more accurate, timely, fair, properly sourced, informed by background materials, and relevant to their audiences
